TOOWOOMBA'S Alexandra Whitley thinks she can contend for the Ssangyong Actyon Ute Racing Series after posting a win at Pukekohe.

Whitley qualified on pole for the first race of the weekend and after finishing sixth, produced a great drive in race two. She started fifth on the grid and worked her way to the front to take the chequered flag by more than two seconds to win.

Whitley then started from the front row of the grid for the third and final race but after making contact with another ute, dropped back to 21st. She pushed hard to move up the leader board and managed to finish 12th thanks in part to clocking the fastest lap time of the final race.

Those results saw Whitley finish fifth for the Ssangyong Actyon series round, which was run in conjunction with the V8 Supercars' ITM 500.

Lap times and results prompted Whitley to consider herself a chance for the series, which moves to Hampton Downs onNovember 28-29.
